The DAYO Program empowers Filipino Internationally Educated Nurses (IENs) transitioning into the U.S. healthcare system by offering a FREE, COMPREHENSIVE, and ACCESSIBLE clinical and cultural assimilation program. Our goal is to equip IENs with the knowledge, skills, and confidence necessary to succeed in their new professional and social environments. Through expert guidance, tailored mentorship, and community support, we bridge the gap between international nursing experience and U.S. healthcare standards, ensuring a smooth adaptation to clinical practices, workplace expectations, and cultural nuances. Beyond a program, DAYO fosters a sense of belonging, resilience, and professional growth, empowering Filipino nurses to thrive early in their transition and make a lasting impact in their careers and communities.
This initiative reflects Powerhouse America's commitment, alongside its dedicated volunteer Filipino IEN mentors, to uplifting, advocating for, and empowering Filipino nurses, strengthening their journey, and paving the way for their success in the U.S. healthcare system.
The DAYO Program was inspired by the firsthand experiences of Filipino IENs who faced significant challenges when transitioning into the U.S. healthcare system. Despite the availability of various programs, few, if any, combine both clinical and cultural integration tailored specifically to the unique demands of the healthcare setting. Recognizing the need for a more holistic approach to this transition, a group of seasoned Filipino nurses came together to create a program that addresses both the clinical competencies and cultural nuances essential for success in the U.S. healthcare environment. Their goal was clear: to ease the journey for those who come after them.
The DAYO Program is led by a team of Filipino IENs who have successfully navigated the U.S. healthcare system and are currently practicing in a wide range of specialties. With diverse clinical expertise, they bring invaluable firsthand knowledge, cultural understanding, and an unwavering commitment to empowering others. Their specializations; spanning critical care, pediatrics, legal nursing, and beyond—ensure a broad spectrum of perspectives and personalized guidance. This collective experience enables the team to provide targeted support that focuses on the most critical information and skills needed during the transition.
